BRAIN FITNESS TRAINING
Dr. Diane is a neuropsychologist
and has studied the brain and knows the brain, like other
muscles in the body, can repair itself. This is called neuroplasicity.
The brain is divided into two hemispheres with each having
specific duties or functions. One function is either to help
you by choice to either put on the accelerator, becoming alert
and increasing energy or to put on the brakes by quieting
the body or mind. Brain Fitness Training helps you to be in
control of your body/mind rather than your body or mind controlling
you.
The brain runs on both chemical
and electrical energy. At Lafayette Counseling Center, LLC,
we have put together a team of experts to help you retrain
and condition your brain. Each member has expertise that is
related to brain function. In Brain Fitness Training we will
be working with all aspects of your brain, both chemical and
electrical, through appropriate nutritional education, Nutrition
Response Testing, listening training, body work, CranioSacral,
biofeedback, neurofeedback, hypnosis, and energy psychology.
Brain Fitness Training combines
the scientific knowledge of neurofeedback along with visual
and cognitive approaches to help you gain your peak performance.
To stay physically fit, you would go to a gym and learn specific
exercises to strengthen your muscles. These exercises would
include weight training and cardiovascular training. Brain
Fitness Training is similar. You have 7 brain waves that are
produced from various regions of your brain. Physical or emotional
trauma or biochemical changes can affect these brain waves.
Just as you can have weak abdominal muscles while having strong
thighs, you can have over or under firing of your brain waves
in various parts of your brain.
Brain Mapping (QEEG) along with
Nutritional Response Testing and Cognitive testing are used
to evaluate your brain functioning. Neurofeedback can identify
where your brain waves are under or over firing. Then, with
the use of a computer, you can learn to retrain your brain
to respond efficiently. These techniques are similar to those used in training a dog or
cat, called operant conditioning. Through the use of computer
games and graphics, you can train your brain to respond to
its best ability.
Using computerized biofeedback
equipment and capitalizing on recent scientific research that
illustrates the profound plasticity of the brain, the Brain
Fitness Team works with individuals to utilize their brain
frequencies to the maximum effectiveness. These exercises strengthen
the brain and the entire nervous system, with powerful
effects on the entire body.
